Catching Up

Posted: March 21, 2011 in Uncategorized

We have been out of the mix with updating our blog for a while. We have been transitioning the website for the church and its other files into our computers in our new facility at 2004 Western Avenue Chillicothe, Ohio 45601. Be sure that in the near future we will be up and running on both the website and this blog bringing you new articles, sermons, class outlines and other information that will keep you in the loop. Accept our apology while we move all the files over. If you have yet to come and visit with us, be sure to join us for one of our assemblies or an upcoming event. We look forward to seeing you. If you are not able to visit, feel free to check back with us from time to time and see what’s happening. Catch up on all of the wonderful things that God is doing among us. God bless you. Have a great day.

FOCUS

Posted: June 8, 2010 in Uncategorized

When I hear the word focus all I can think about is when I was young and the Karate Kid was told by Mr. Miyagi to,

“Focus”

Faithful…Praise the Lord

A very faithful woman

An elderly lady was well-known for her faith and for her boldness in talking about it. She would stand on her front porch and shout “PRAISE THE LORD!”

Next door to her lived an atheist who would get so angry at her proclamations he would shout, “There ain’t no Lord!!”

Hard times set in on the elderly lady, and she prayed for GOD to send her some assistance. She stood on her porch and shouted “PRAISE THE LORD. GOD I NEED FOOD!! I AM HAVING A HARD TIME. PLEASE LORD, SEND ME SOME GROCERIES!!”

The next morning the lady went out on her porch and noted a large bag of groceries and shouted, “PRAISE THE LORD.”

The neighbor jumped from behind a bush and said, “Aha! I told you there was no Lord. I bought those groceries, God didn’t.”

The lady started jumping up and down and clapping her hands and said, “PRAISE THE LORD. He not only sent me groceries, but He made the devil pay for them. Praise the Lord!”

Where have you been?

Sometimes women are overly suspicious of their husbands.

When Adam stayed out very late for a few nights, Eve became upset.

“You’re running around with other women” ,

she charged.

“You’re being unreasonable,”

Adam responded,

“You’re the only woman on earth.”

The quarrel continued until Adam fell asleep, only to be awakened by someone poking him in the chest.

It was Eve.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

Adam demanded.

“Counting your ribs,”

said Eve.

We are studying Genesis on Sundays and Tuesdays in our Bible class at church. On Sunday we have more of a textual study and on Tuesday we have been asking and answering tough questions from the book of Genesis, while doing character studies of people in Genesis that are found in the New Testament. You are sure to enjoy the class. Come out and be with us.

See you soon.

Be A Man…

Posted: March 19, 2009 in 1

“Be a man” is a statement that you hear often in our culture today. Usually this phrase expresses the idea of being a partying, sports fanatic, tough guy that is in control of his life and does what he wants to do.

In reality, the world has it all messed up. Paul indeed told Christian men to act like men and we read that Israel’s men were told, “Be strong, threrefore, and prove yourself a man” (I Kings 2:1-4). But these passage don’t speak of some macho man. No indeed they speak of men that are surrendered to the Lord and find their greatest strength in their weaknesses. These are men that still have compassion, like our Lord. Who love their spouse and seek to raise up their children in the way of the Lord.

I am the first one there when it comes to Monday night football and a camping and fishing trip, but there is more to being a man than these things.

From March 27th – 29th we will be having a meeting at the church on biblical manhood with Fredric Gray. We will be dealing with the following subjects:

March 27th – 7:00 pm – Lesson From Creation

March 28th – 7:00 pm – Loving your wife

March 29th - 10:00 am – Being a Father

Join us for these studies and learn how to be a man of God.

Look forward to seeing you soon.

Redeeming the Time

Posted: January 2, 2009 in Blog, Blogroll

Every year we have a new opportunity to get our lives in order, right some wrongs, start doing something different or just to appreciate that we have another year to enjoy.

God is the giver of life and all things good. Yet someday this world as we know it will be no more and we will be called to a higher plain where we will give an answer for how we spent our days on this earth.

There is no better time than right now to resolve to get your house in order, make your life right with God, changing your ways and using every moment to give praise and glory to the God of heaven and earth.

Redeem your time wisely. If we can be an encouragement to you while assisting you in your spiritual goals in 2009, please let us know.

What’s New

Posted: September 24, 2008 in Misc.

I have always been interested in things that are new. My wife picks on me because I have to buy every new flavor of soda, bubble gum or potato chip. My logic is that new things are enjoyable, because they are new.

When we read the Bible we read about a new heart, a new spirit, a new covenant, a new and living way, a new song, a new heaven and new earth where righteousness dwells, a new commandment, being a new creature in Christ, being a new man with a new self (a new convert), and my favorite; a new Jerusalem.

Perhaps now I understand why I love God and His word so much. He will one day make all things new, but in the meantime, He has given me all kinds of new things to enjoy and look forward to. Praise God for He is a God of newness.

“The LORD’S lovingkindnesss indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. {They} are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lam 3:22-23)

Lessons that encourage us to fix our eyes on Jesus

Lately, we have started a series of lessons on the question, “Why Does A Loving God Allow Suffering?” Most people lose their faith in God over the fact that there is suffering in the world. Nevertheless, there is a reasonable answer to the problem of suffering.

See Lee Stoebol’s Answer.

Woman At The Well…

Posted: March 18, 2008 in Misc.

I saw this on Godtube.com and I couldn’t help but share it. Periodically, I will think about how the world around us feels if all we do is look upon them with contempt but never reach out to help them with their soul’s salvation. When compared with Jesus how are we doing in the area of compassion? This will make you think.

For those of you who watch this and you are not in a right relationship with the Lord, please know that we do love you and we are concerned for your soul. Come and let us know how we can serve you.
