@ Carver Community Center

November 30th – 7:00 pm
December 1st – 7:00 pm
December 2nd – 2:30 pm

Are you saved or lost?

If you are saved, do you ever think about the possibility of being lost again? If you are lost, can you be assured of your salvation?

Do you get the feeling that every time you sin you are coming in and out of God’s grace?

Do you wonder if at some point you are forfeiting your salvation?

Wouldn’t you like to know that if you are a Christian that is seeking diligently to do the will of the Lord, that even in spite of your many shortcomings that you can be assured of your salvation?

Come and be with us for this weekend of instruction from the word of God.

Matthew Allen, the evangelist of the church in Brownsburg Indiana will be preaching to us on important subjects related to the assurance of our salvation.

Looking Unto Jesus

Most of you have probably seen the following optical illusion but I want to share it here on our blog and add some spiritual insights.

Instructions: Stare for 20 seconds at the dot in the center of the picture and then find a blank white wall to look at. You will see an image come into view after about 10 additional seconds. What do you see?

Spiritual Insights

1. If you look upon Jesus long enough, you will see Him everywhere else.

2. We must continually look upon Jesus or we will lose sight of His image

3. Sometimes we can see Jesus in other things around us.

Our New Brothers and Sisters In Christ

Recently we have seen several souls respond to the gospel. Praise God who gives the increase. We are thankful for these responses and ask that you rejoice with us and pray for the continued growth of these babes in Christ. Because we have some pictures of these new Christians I thought I would share. Thank you and God bless.

Matt Minney was baptized into Christ as well.

Susan Linggist was also buried with Christ at the Ross County YMCA but we do not have a photo of this sister.

We will have more photos to come as God leads us to those who are sincerely interested in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. For now we will share the gospel and follow up with those who have already showed an interest in spiritual things.

Would you be interested in hearing the gospel?

Traveling For Christian Fellowship

In the last few weeks we have been very busy. Dan DeGarmo, John Miller and I all sent our wives of to Dominica for 10 days. Don’t worry; they didn’t do anything wrong. :-)

They traveled to this island so that they could assist with a Vacation Bible School there.  The trip was very successful having as many as 73 students at one assembly. We are thankful that God provided this opportunity and that the women were willing to make this journey. Thank you Sharon, Serena and Susan. Below is a picture of the island:

Island Travel

While these wonderful Christian women were away from us some friends of ours in Indiana traveled to stay with us for a day. These brothers were a great encouragement to us. We spent time in recreation (disc golf & Xbox 360) and shared a meal at Applebee’s (pictured below). A special thank you to Matt Allen and his understudy, Rick.

West Virginia Vacation For Rejuvination

Both evangelists of the church in Chillicothe spent the last week in West Virginia near the New River Gorge Bridge in a cabin with 30 other Christians and their children. We have been encouraged and strengthened spiritually and we are ready to get back to work in Chillicothe. From Bible studies, the Nintendo Wii, hiking and rafting (and you know we played some disc golf for sure), we had an excellent week.

Queen For A Day @ Burger King

Happy Birthday

Little Sarah celebrated her 3rd birthday and was given a crown to wear for the day. We called a few families from the local church and came together at Burger King to make her feel like a queen. Sarah is the youngest daughter to Matthew Minney who was recently baptized into Christ. We continue to rejoice with Matt as he was also born anew a short time ago.

The kids jumped around and climbed in the play area while the adults enjoyed conversing with one another. We sang “Happy Birthday” with my mandolin (I am learning how to play) and shared cake and ice cream. It was an enjoyable occasion and we are glad to have this new family with us as a part of the local church.

Don’t forget to check out Matthew Minney’s article on “What God Has Done”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH

HAPPY NEW BIRTH DAY TO MATTHEW

Church Logo

So what does our church logo stand for anyways? Many people have speculated as to what our logo symbolizes. We have heard everything from two men going up for a jump ball in a basketball game to a couple of volleyball players preparing for a spike at the net. Perhaps you see two people giving a high five or two people stretching before a workout. Nevertheless, I would like to take a moment to share with you what our logo means to me as one of the evangelists of this local church.

Our logo was selected carefully and we wanted it to be a symbol that would be recognized by others as being connected with the local congregation. When I first saw the logo, I noticed the cross. Personally, if it is not about the Lord, then why use it. Secondly, I noted that there were people working together, who although different (cultural, ethnical, social etc.), were showing to others the message of the cross of Christ. By reaching upward, they show their reliance upon and need for the Lord and His daily guidance and strength. But by reaching outward, they share the love of Jesus with everyone that they come in contact with. We attached the short motto, “Serving Jesus By Sharing Jesus” with this logo because we believe that this is what our existence is all about. On the website we classify ourselves as, “a congregation of Christians that serve the Lord by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.” We are the church (a congregation of Christian) that assemble in Chillicothe, Ohio. You may see other ways of viewing this logo, but I hope this helps you to see who we are and what we are all about in the church in Chillicothe.

Just for fun, can you think of anything creative that this logo could stand for?
